Addiction: From Dark to Light

Addiction, in all its forms, is an epidemic that has touched almost everyone either directly or indirectly. The exact nature of what addiction actually is has been debated across scientific and other communities for decades now. Whether it’s a disease or not, to me, isn’t really important. What is important is that imbalance that occurs within the addict cause endless amounts of suffering that touches every area of one’s life. Substance abuse, food additions, gambling, sex addition or tech addiction are all dark holes that can be very hard to dig out of and to find the light again. 

Yet even with the destruction of addiction reaching all time heights, treatments for addiction have remained somewhat static. The most common recovery options work for some but certainly not all and with so few options for different paths of recovery, it’s important we turn to the question of whether or not psychedelics can help with treating the everyday addiction.

Ibogaine and opioid dependence or breaking free from the confines of 12 step rigidity with the help of psychedelics as tools for spiritual expansion are just a couple of the many areas in which we can turn to this brave new world of psychedelics and recovery.
